Dental VeneersHow veneers from your dentists in Owings Mills, Maryland, can give you a dazzling smile

Do you want a memorable, dazzling smile? Do you want your smile to make a great impression? If so, it’s time for you to discover the benefits of dental veneers, the go-to cosmetic dentistry treatment to achieve a perfect smile! Drs. Herbert and Harold Mendelson at Mendelson Family Dentistry in Owings Mills, Maryland can give you the dazzling smile you deserve, thanks to dental veneers.

More about Veneers

Dental veneers are thin sheaths of sparkling porcelain which are permanently placed on the front surfaces of your teeth. Porcelain is a uniquely beautiful material that reflects light, resembling tooth enamel. That’s why veneers look so natural—just like your teeth, only better! Porcelain also doesn’t pick up stains, so your new porcelain veneers will stay attractive for years. Just imagine, you can permanently have a beautiful, white smile!

Dental veneer treatment is quick too! You can have a dramatically improved smile in as little as two to three appointments, including the initial consultation appointment. Treatment is also conservative because very little tooth surface is removed, just enough to compensate for the thickness of the veneers.

The benefits and versatility of dental veneers are amazing. You can change the color, shape, and other aspects you don’t like about your teeth. With dental veneers you can cover up aesthetic issues such as:

  • Breaks and fracture lines
  • Chips and cracks
  • Blotches and discolorations
  • Tooth wear and erosion

Dental veneers may even allow you to close up small gaps between your teeth, and hide tooth overlap. During a consultation, your dentist can evaluate whether dental veneers can help hide alignment issues, or if you should consider orthodontic treatment.

BaseballsFranciscoLindorShinesasMrSmile

At the first-ever Players Weekend in August 2017, Major League Baseball players wore jerseys with their nicknames on the back. One player — Cleveland Indians shortstop, Francisco Lindor — picked the perfect moniker to express his cheerful, fun-loving nature: “Mr. Smile.” And Lindor gave fans plenty to smile about when he belted a 2-run homer into the stands while wearing his new jersey!

Lindor has explained that he believes smiling is an important part of connecting with fans and teammates alike: “I’ve never been a fan of the guy that makes a great play and then acts like he’s done it 10,000 times — smile, man! We’ve got to enjoy the game.”

We think Lindor is right: Smiling is a great way to generate good will. And it feels great too… as long as you have a smile that’s healthy, and that looks as good as you want it to. But what if you don’t? Here are some things we can do at the dental office to help you enjoy smiling again:

Routine Professional Cleanings & Exams. This is a great place to start on the road toward a healthy, beautiful smile. Even if you are conscientious about brushing and flossing at home, you won’t be able to remove all of the disease-causing dental plaque that can hide beneath the gum line, especially if it has hardened into tartar, but we can do it easily in the office. Then, after a thorough dental exam, we can identify any problems that may be affecting your ability to smile freely, such as tooth decay, gum disease, or cosmetic dental issues.

Cosmetic Dental Treatments. If your oral health is good but your smile is not as bright as you’d like it to be, we can discuss a number of cosmetic dental treatments that can help. These range from conservative procedures such as professional teeth whitening and bonding to more dramatic procedures like porcelain veneers or crowns.

Tooth Replacement. Many people hide their smiles because they are embarrassed by a gap from a missing tooth. That’s a shame, because there are several excellent tooth-replacement options in a variety of price ranges. These include partial and full dentures, bridgework, and dental implants. So don’t let a missing tooth stop you from being Mr. (or Ms.) Smile!

How cosmetic dentistry from your dentists in Owings Mills can renew your smilecosmetic dentistry

Everyone wants to look their best, including you! It all begins with your smile. If you want to show off your best possible smile, you need to find out about cosmetic dentistry. Cosmetic dentistry procedures make your smile beautiful too! Your dentists at Mendelson Family Dentistry in Owings Mills, MD, want to share just a few of the common procedures to renew your smile.

If your teeth are dull and yellowed with age, it’s time to consider professional teeth whitening. You can whiten your teeth up to 8 shades whiter, and achieve results that can last up to 5 years. Professional teeth whitening is guaranteed safe and effective. At Mendelson Family Dentistry, you can choose from two methods, an in-office treatment that takes about an hour, or a take-home kit that lets you whiten at your own pace.

If you want to give yourself a celebrity-perfect smile, consider porcelain veneers. Veneers are thin sheaths of porcelain which are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth. They will cover up both minor and major cosmetic dental issues like cracks, breaks, enamel defects, poorly shaped teeth, and other problems. They can even cosmetically hide tooth overlap and small gaps between teeth.

If you are missing teeth and want to complete your smile, the most beautiful, natural-looking solution is dental implants. Dental implants function just like your natural teeth, restoring full chewing function and a fantastic smile. You brush and floss them just like your natural teeth. They are a great replacement for partials and dentures too.

TipsforPicture-PerfectSummerSmiles

June is the month when lots of important events happen—like weddings, graduations, and family get-togethers. When the weather turns balmy and the days get longer, it’s the perfect time for a celebration…and today it’s easier than ever to capture those special moments in pictures that will be treasured for years to come. Are you ready for your close-up?

Both professional photographers and dentists want to help you look your best when you’re smiling for the camera. Here are a few suggestions from both kinds of pros for capturing a great-looking smile.

Tilt your head just a bit

Instead of looking straight at the camera, try turning or tilting your head slightly. This often presents a more flattering angle, and can hide small facial asymmetries. If your face has a “good side” (you can check by looking in a mirror), be sure to make it visible. But even if your head is tilted or turned, your eyes should be looking at the camera.

Moisten teeth before the shutter clicks

A sparkly smile is the most appealing one. Just before the picture is snapped, run your tongue over your teeth to give them a little extra shine. Highlights in the teeth, lips and eyes add liveliness to your portrait.

Relax—Don’t clench your teeth!

It’s better to smile naturally—perhaps with teeth slightly parted, or lips in a more relaxed position—than to force yourself to make an artificial-looking grin. Try recalling things that make you joyful, or think of people you care about, and chances are your natural smile will shine out.

Have your teeth professionally cleaned at the dental office

Before the big event, you can ensure that your smile looks its best with a professional cleaning at our office. This treatment removes layers of plaque and tartar on visible tooth surfaces, as well as between teeth and under the gumline. It not only makes teeth look their best, but it’s also an effective way to fight tooth decay and gum disease. And while you’re here, it’s the perfect time to talk about any cosmetic issues that may be troubling you about your smile. With treatments like teeth whitening, cosmetic bonding or dental veneers, we can help you get the smile you’ve always wanted.

If you would like more information about professional teeth cleaning or cosmetic dentistry, please call our office to schedule a consultation.

Veneers were first used by a dentist in California in the 1920s. He wanted to help his Hollywood client change his smile for a movie. Today, veneersveneers are used by dentists all over the country to help patients from all walks of life. One treatment at Mendelson Family Dentistry in Owings Mills, MD, can resolve a long list of cosmetic problems with your teeth, including discoloration, chipping, and spacing. If you're considering cosmetic dentistry, learn more about veneers and how they can make your smile look more perfect.

How Veneers Help Your Smile

Your teeth are considered the most attractive feature you have, even above eyes and hair, according to a survey sponsored by the American Dental Association. Veneers will renew the surfaces of your teeth so that you don’t have to be embarrassed to smile in public and you can take pictures that show your full essence. Each veneer replaces a small amount of enamel, which is removed in advance of the procedure. The veneers blend with the gumline and are carefully contoured, giving your smile a natural, healthy, and youthful appearance.

Veneers Can Also Strengthen Your Smile

The most notable benefit of veneers is that they make your smile look more attractive. But they also protect your teeth. Although it looks as thin as a contact lens, the shell of a veneer is made of tough porcelain material. The material doesn’t stain as easily as your natural teeth. You may also be inspired to maintain pristine dental hygiene habits when you see how lovely your smile looks after veneers.

Caring for Your New Smile

The cleaner you keep your teeth on a daily basis, the longer your veneers will last. That means brushing and flossing every day, paying close attention to veneer surfaces. Regular bi-yearly visits to see your Owings Mills, MD, dentist after getting veneers will also lengthen the life of your new smile. Avoid using your teeth to tear into food and chew hard substances. To prevent enamel erosion, ask your dentist to make you a night guard appliance.

Veneers May Be Your Smile Solution

Veneers can fix up your smile and make you feel more confident in your facial appearance. Call (410) 356-4100 today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Herbert Mendelson, Dr. Harold Mendelson, and Dr. Jeremy Rosenfeld at Mendelson Family Dentistry in Owings Mills, MD.
